Microsoft Office 2010 / 2007 / 2003: Office won't run
-
Office won't run
I installed MS Office 2000 Standard (French) on a computer with XP (French),
using an existing user (administrator equivalence). Later, I defined a new
user, and removed the original user.
I hadn't tried to launch Word or any of the other installed components
before changing users, so I don't know if it worked, then. But it doesn't
work now.
I uninstalled it, and then reinstalled it. Everything seems to be where it
should be, but if I try to launch Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, I see the
'egg-timer' for a moment, and nothing happens.
If I try to run Outlook, I get a message "Operation failed due to an
installation problem."
Anyone know why this might be, and how I might remove Office *completely*
and try again?
Thanks.

Re: Office won't run - Additional symptoms
I also tried a Repair, which went through its paces, but didn't seem to
help.
Later, I tried to run Word, and nothing happened. But after about 2 minutes,
MSIEXEC.EXE began running (Please wait while Microsoft configures
Office...). It seemed to keep running, finish, then begin again. It did this
for about 3 minutes. Then nothing.
A subsequent attempt loaded MSIEXEC.EXE, but didn't seem to run it.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Office won't run - Solution
Ok. I found the solution (though it was difficult to find, because it
doesn't seem to mention installation of French MSO2K in French WINXP...)
Run the Language Version component of the MSO Resource Kit as explained in
MS Knowledgebase Article 257945.
Seems to fix the problem with all the MSO components...
