Excel reports "Error accessing file" when open an excel book w/ ma

I have an excel file w/ macros created in excel 2000. It does not have any
reference to other files and was working very well. Yesterday I tried to open
it on a new XP system w/ excel 2003. Excel 2003 reported error "Error
accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." And then Excel 2003
told me it was able to open the file with repairs: "Lost Visual Basic
project. Lost ActiveX controls". Although all the sheet data were remained,
the repairs had deleted all my macros.

I exited without saving the file - I can see that the last modified time of
the file was not changed. When I tried to open this file in Excel 2000 back
on my old system, I was able to open the file, execute the macros. However,
when I got into Visual Basic Editor, I am no longer to access my macro codes.
Dbl clicking on any module gave me error "Error accessing file. Network
connection may have been lost." I tried to export code and got the same
error. Also I could not save/save as the file, message was "Doent not
    saved."

Does anyone know how to fix the problem or at least, recover/export the
macro code so that I can re-build the book. Any help is appriciated.

Did you open the file directly from a floppy disk or other
removable media? If so, then you probably corrupted the file.

    Meant to add... See
    http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel.misc/browse_frm/thread/816aca1f6d120cd8
for Excel MVP Norman Harker's advice on how to recover corrupt
Excel files. Be sure to make several backup copies of your
original Excel file, and attempt the recovery procedures on a
copy, not on the original (or what's left of it).
