    Certificate of Authenticity

Had to regenerate XP professional from scratch and all
applications. In "Office Setup," The Certificate of
Authenticity is required to activate Word; I copied the
code (as instructed) from the left-side panel of the
tower and carefully proofed it. I used the same 2002 OEM
four-disk Works set that came with the computer, but to
no avail--it repeatedly rejected the 25-character code.

I've been in touch with the manufacturer -- they
suggested I buy new software. I tried to navigate
through the miriad of Microsoft options but gave up when
the only avenue seemed to be to "pay up" for their
    involvement.

Since the environment absolutely has not changed at my
end, I feel strongly that I shouldn't have to pay a
penalty for an obvious "systems" problem.

    Any thoughts out there?

    Certificate of Authenticity

I too had to do a hard disk format and was unable to find
my Office 2000 booklet with the product key number on it.
I did have my Windows 95 booklet and was able to download
my Windows program. Is there any way to retrieve this
vital information without having to purchase a new program?

    Certificate of Authenticity

How do I locate a certificate of authenticity for Office
2000 small business edition which was part of an original
purchase on a gateway computer some 6 years ago?

I'm trying to load this software which was given to me by
Gateway on a new box I purchased through my company. I
don't have the numbers. Is there a location I can
find "generic" numbers to be loaded?

This is my own software, no ifs, ands or buts.

    Re: Certificate of Authenticity

You cannot load this software on any other computer as it is OEM - meaning
that it is forever tied to the machine on which it was purchased. To load
Office on a new machine, you will need to acquire a retail version. Good
news is that your SBE qualifies you for the upgrade price edition.
