The most effective thing you can do is filter the Google Groupies.

| The most effective thing you can do is filter the Google Groupies.
How is that accomplished?

Depends on your newsreader. The simplest way that I know of is to filter
on message-id - ditch anything that contains googlegroups.
No idea whether OE can filter on message-id though.

Okay, I did that. And in my comment, I requested that replies default to
below the quoted text. And I thanked them for asking.

Below the last attribution is better. It encourages snipping on the way
down, rather than just banging in a one-liner after quoting the whole
previous post, 'cause that's where the cursor is. Snipping and
top/bottom/inter posting are two different (but highly related things),
of course; but cursor placement after the attributions makes both of them
easy and - to the sentient <g> - obvious.

Then you won't see my message... I often read/post via Google (as I'm
doing now), even though I'm far from a clueless newbie. It's simply a
convenient interface I can use anywhere with a Web browser (home, work,
when visiting somebody else and using their computer, etc.) without
needing to have a news reader set up and configured, and have a working
news server associated with whatever Internet connection I'm using (and
know its address), and so on. It's also easy to see if there are any
new responses to any threads I've posted to recently, without having to
remember which groups I've been on lately.
I do format my replies correctly, despite Google's efforts to
discourage me from doing so.
