Do traffic exchanges really work to bring "real visitiors"? Do they
violate google rules? How do I bring visitors to my site without
exchanges, ones that want to see what I have to offer?
http://almoststealing.com is a freebie site, I am currently focusing on
educational freebies but I have Real freebies and Real Contest.... NO
Crap stuff.... I just seem to be making bad mistakes about traffic vs
real people that want to come back. Anyone have any ideas? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

No

In a word; content

If you build it, they will come. It takes a while to build momentum.

And lo, Red E. Kilowatt didst speak in alt.www.webmaster:

On a related note, I am happy to say that a page I posted at my employer's
site, which we specifically designed to grab search hits for a certain
phrase (unquoted), is now sitting at #1, even higher than a page at
Wikipedia with the phrase in the title (it's #2).

How long did it take to get there? Just shy of a year and a half.

I dont mind losing the traffic exchanges, they are alot of work with
little help in exchange. Maybe I just havent found the right nitch for
my site... the right content I guess. Any suggestions? I want to
build what people want to come to... I enjoy doing the site, love doing
it actually, I apparently have little to no idea on what content works.
You would think with almoststealing as a domain that ideas woudl just
be pouring out eh? LOL.

Please don't take this the wrong way. But I visited your site and didn't
understand it. That is, after a minute I left with no desire to return.
What were all those big letters there on the left hand side? Along with
those others on the right accompanying the USA?

Perhaps if you had provided a paragraph or something of the sort explaining
the site's purpose then maybe I might've been captivated. I'm putting out
some blind trust by saying that I'm sure you've something to offer but,
like I said, you lost me in less than 60 seconds (and only that long
because I actually tried to figure it out).

SO, like someone else suggested, Content, Content, Content. Get to writing
something!

Best of luck.

Of course. The big letters in Red and Green. What are those? Grades?

As for the others on the right. I see you've got a legend (ALL the way at
the bottom of the page). Hmmmm, wrong place.

Oh no, I'm back at this site now.

Please note: 1/3 of your entire page are Google Ads. What gives?

Posted by liltritter on March 27th, 2006

Oh the letters show if it is a contest or freebie. As for the google
ads, i was doing as suggested, to much? I needed to fill the columns,
my menus are short. Honestly, thought it was content. I will move
the legend to the top, good point, thank you. It's a work in progress,
and I do appreciate the imput as I am still somewhat new to this.

Agreed... and the best content is good product at reasonable prices.

Reciprocal links help too, if you're selective about them.
