- OT: Interviewing For Staff
- Posted by Martin Harran on March 11th, 2006
One of our shop managers was carrying out interviews today for an assistant.
This is an honest to God true account of some of the responses by one of the
ladies interviewed:
Manager: "Tell me one of your weaknesses."
Interviewee: "Drinking!"
.... a little later ....
Manager: "If you get the job, you might be asked to help out in one of our
other shops sometimes, would that be a problem?."
Interviewee: "What towns?"
Manager: "Probably Galway or Sligo."
Interviewee: "Jaysus, no problem, those are two great drinking towns!"
--- near end of inteview ( i.e. about 2 minutes later) ----
Manager: "What would you like to be doing in 5 years time ?"
Interviewee: "Running my own pub somewhere foreign!"

The OP says it's a shop assistant position. Does the shop sell alcohol by any
chance?

Pondering the eternal question of "Hobnobs or Rich Tea?", Martin Harran
finally proclaimed:

That's all funny stuff. But you know, there's the possibility that this
woman made up her mind early on (maybe turned off by something? or someone?
at the shop or the office?).
....but then again she could be a kook afterall. :-)
