Considering many webmasters use Adsense, I wouldn't regard this as OT.

Here's an idea. Put up a site about mesothelioma, and carry Adsense ads on
it. A cut of 54 bucks a click would be nice!!

I must say, that list surprises me.

and typed:

It's been done. Repeatedly. Every Adsense scammer has a pseudo-site
about mesolithioma. But the problem is that people are unlikely to
visit it unless they are genuinely interested in the subject, and if
they are genuinely interested then they're more likely to be using
Google to find sites about it. Which means that they're unlikely to
end up at yours - it's hard to get good ranking when you're competing
with 15 million other pages.

It doesn't really surprise me. There is big money to be made in taking
on contingency-fee lawsuits against employers who have exposed their
staff to asbestos. And loans, especially consolidation loans, are big
business too. It's worth paying $50 to get a customer who might earn
you several thousand.

Having said that, the other thing that has to be taken into account
(from a webmaster perspective) is that high-value keywords tend to be
low-clickrate keywords. Very few people are going to click on an ad
for mesothelioma lawyers, as not many people have a need for them.
Loans do better, as more people need them, but they're still a
minority interest. On the other hand, ads offering things like free
mp3 downloads, while not paying particularly well, generate a much
higher clickthrough rate.

Just playin' safe. This group scares me sometimes. *smile*

People have tried it. Dry, organic content on sites with admirable status.
Click on such ads must be monitored and carefully seen through the magnifying
glass. This has led to site banishment before.

The last time I saw anything similar, the maximum was $20 and it was stuff
related to asbestos in the context of lawsuits.

That's the drawback about being straight and honest, I'm not very well
versed on scams.

My two exclamation marks denote that this was not an entirely serious
proposition, more a throw-away remark, or a joke, sorry if this was not
bleeding obvious.

It surprised me because I have never heard of mesolithioma.

Never?!?!?!

You mean you all don't have the mesothelioma lawyer commercials constantly
on television?

Good day to you sweet beauty!

If we've got those commercials, then I haven't seen them! Having said
that, I didn't have a TV for five years, and now that I have one, I hardly
watch it, and when I do watch it it's usually BBC which doesn't carry
commercials!

We do get the commercials for lawyers, no win no fee, usually for people
falling over things and injuring themselves!
