- Looking for free/cheap domain park
- Posted by Voetleuce en f?nsievry on January 21st, 2004
G'day
I have two or three domains that I don't really use ATM but I don't
want to lose them. My current free DNS provider is going to cut my
service soon for reasons I don't want to discuss (a misunderstanding),
and their paid service is rather expensive. So... can anyone
recommend a free or cheap domain parking service?
Don't say "ZoneEdit" because they're my current provider. Don't say
"Public DNS" either because for years and years I've tried and failed
to figure out how it works.
A Google search is no good because most if not all providers consider
their service to be cheap, even if they charge prices as high as USD
10.00 per domain per year.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Leuce

Switch to an eNom affiliate (like us), for your domain name registration
services. You'll get your domain renewed and DNS service is free, if your
domain is registered with them.

No real references to give you.
But just wondering....
If you think the domains have any value, at least enough to make them
worthwhile keeping.
Is less than $1.00 per month really a lot of money.

The domains have mostly sentimental value and are free domains. USD
1.00 per month per domain name is a lot of money. :-)

Thanks for the tip, although I doubt if eNom affiliates will register
these domains. They are all free domains (or they used to be free
when I registered them, but things change for new registrants, don't
they). One sits in .eu.org. The other sits in .nom.za.
The problem with many hosts offering free or cheap domain parking is
that you have to register your domain through them and for that they
charge a fee which is sometimes higher than the fee you'd pay at your
usual registrar, which cancels out the "free" or "cheap" bit.
But thanks for your post, Tina.

We do have a hosting solution which is free, after you pay the one-time $5
setup fee. We get alot of people using that for redirecting to other space
(like their ISP space, which generally offers more space/bandwidth, etc.).
You might want to think about putting your domains on one of those. You can
have up to three domains on one of those freebie accounts.
....and you don't have to buy your domain from us. ;-)

Yeah, the difference is...I don't have an opinion on the matter. So, feel
free to argue the point amongst yourselves. ;-)

FREE DOMAIN NAMES ?????
Well that's a new one...silly me I've been paying for mine all along
I'm sure you mean you didn't have to (directly) pay for them.
But check (whois) the registration info carefully if you are not listed as
the owner.
You may be out of luck, or HAVE to stay with the host that GAVE it to you.
A lot of less than reputable hosts register URL's under their own names.
As that's the only way they can keep customers
