A great CSS demo
Posted by Scott Bryce on August 15th, 2004

This is a great site to demonstrate what can be done with CSS.

http://www.csszengarden.com/

Artists are requested to create a new design for the page by modifying
the CSS, but NOT the HTML. The page can be viewed in 350 different designs.

Also, this is a great search site, you can find just about everything on
the internet.

You just type in the terms you want to search for, or put phrases within
quotes, and the pages that match are listed in relevant order.

Which either means that you are not the least bit impressed, or that all
the regulars here already know about the site. Or perhaps it is that the
possibilities for CSS should be obvious enough to a webmaster that you
don't find the site all that significant?

Very nice, clean and tidy - but like most css sites - not very exciting :-(

Really? I agree that a lot of CSS sites can be bland, but I've always
thought that ZenGarden demonstrated the creative possibilities of CSS. What
more would you like?

Since the ZenGarden designs don't work in NN4, they have their limits IMO,
but I enjoy browsing the site. It's kind of like going to an art gallery.

To Scott: yes, ZenGarden is well known in this group. Seeing it recommended
here was almost like having someone tell you about Google (as Grey showed
us). But I appreciate your sharing.

Creative? Sorry, I am not one to speak as I am not a designer, (my own
sites testify to that :-( BUT - I know what I like.

IMHO zen gardens, in all its variables is flat, dull and booring. Yes, it
is tidy, very clean looking - but still booring. Dare I say it, even
godaddy with all its faults is a more exciting site (yuk - had to be said)

Folk still using NN4, IE4 etc.. know they are using ancient technology.

They have become accustomed to seeing documents will little or no styling.

Don't let ancient technology hold you back. Hide the CSS from them if they
can't cope and get on. Their time has gone.
