- Frontpage Subwebs?
- Posted by BenignVanilla on December 29th, 2005
I am testing out a new ISP, and one of the tests I am performing is creating
a FP site, that uses subweb's. I have a few customers that use FP, and make
use of subweb's so this is important to me. The new ISP has handled
everything very nicely so far, except for the subweb's. I cannot create
them, nor publish sites that have them. I tried updatin the security for the
site via FP, and my login does not have access to do so.
This all shouts "security problem" to me, but my ISP is having much
difficulty in solving the problem.
Any recommendations? My trial runs out soon.

Subweb=subsite=directory. Most ISPs are going to let you create all the
directories you want, but I expect that to create them through FrontPage's
subweb functions, your account must have FrontPage Extensions activated.
Check with your ISP.

And lo, George King didst speak in alt.www.webmaster:
"Subweb" has got to be one of the silliest and most self-aggrandising
internet buzzwords I've ever heard.

I could be wrong, but I think its a term only used by FrontPage.

one. I would suggest getting your ISP to activate them on the server,
if they havn't already.
Alternitivly, use a better WYSIWYG editor, such as NVU,
http://www.nvu.com or if you need something for more Comercial use,
then I would suggest useing DreamWever.
Oh, also, if your clients need better / more control over their sites,
then maybe even use a full CMS.

William it's a function of FrontPage...I have some customers that use FP, so
if I am going to move my sites to this new ISP. I need to be able to support
this function for my users.
