Do you have the Search Engine Blues?
Posted by Ralph Ritoch on February 19th, 2004

Every webmaster knows search engines are becoming the most un-reliable
form of marketing available. Since Googles major update dubbed the "Florida
update" search engine's have become more and more unreliable. Yahoo
purchased Overture, Altavista, and Alltheweb and the possibility of yahoo
switching to their new search technologies for results became the buzz of
the net. Now yahoo makes a bold move by switching to Inktomi results only
months after renewing their contract with google. Google still hasn't
settled on a new ranking formula, and their results are shifting drasticly
month to month.

There is a way out! Stop relying on the search engines for traffic and
become a real marketer. ViralHomeBusiness.Com offers the best and most
cost-effective Viral Marketing technologies on the net.

Does it work?

ViralHomeBusiness.Com has been jumping up and down on the search engines
along with everyone else, but our traffic and the traffic of our active
members has been steadily increasing. If you feel comfortable putting the
fate of your business in the hands of a handfull of companies running the
search engines keep doing what your doing, but if you want to take control
of your financial future visit http://www.viralhomebusiness.com and build
yourself a marketing system that gets results!

How feasible is it to run a viral home business anyway? Aren't virii
terribly expensive and hard to incubate? Seems like you'd lose money on a
deal like this except if you were funded by the government... or
terrorists.

But what's the difference these days eh?

Specially as I dont think much of the big SEs and when necessary prefer to
use the smaller subject specific ones.

Call it spam, or call it whatever you want but the facts remain. Read
through any popular forum on search engine optimization and you'll see
theres a steady increase in posts about the growing need to utilize forms
of marketing other than search engine marketing due to the increasing
un-reliability of major search engines. Viral marketing is an obvious
alternative being turned to by many businesses, including small businesses
and large corporations. It has been producing impressive results, not the
overnite results some viral marketers claim, but as is stated in all of my
material a consistant viral marketing effort brings impressive long term
results.

Bill,

Referring to Viral marketing as real marketing compaired to search engine
marketing may be a little harsh, but viral marketing takes a lot more
planning, thinking, and effort than running a website through optimization
programs, changing tags and wording, and going to one site after another
requesting links. When I'm actively promoting viral marketing programs I
get measurable results within weeks. Most search engine optimization takes
at least a month to show any significant results. I do both because it
helps me reach a larger audience.

The reason for this post is to offer a way out for the webmasters who are
tired of the game with search engines. The amount of traffic you can get
from search engines is limited by the search engines marketing ability, and
in reality people who rely on search engines are simply feeding off of the
success of the search engines they're listed on.

Real marketing is an ongoing process of getting your message in front of
the right people. Because of viral marketing I have my ads on thousands of
web sites and they are being seen millions of times a day. That is real
marketing, getting your ads in front of people as opposed to waiting for
them to come to you as is the case with search engines.

Sam,

I'm not sure if your post is a serious question, but in my experience
medium sized companies haven't been using much viral marketing. A small
business uses viral marketing to get their message to as many people as
possible inexpensively. Large corporations use viral marketing to keep
their messages and their name in front of people. Medium sized businesses
don't usually need to reach a large number of people because they already
have a large amount of customers, but not too large to make it
un-economical to contact all of them. Imagine if yahoo were to email all of
their current and past customers, the internet would be lagged for weeks.
One day there may be a need for viral marketing in medium sized businesses,
but right now there isn't a high demand for viral marketing in medium sized
businesses.
