comments/advice needed

I am working on a project site. The url is www.search24-7.com. I am
looking for feedback (both negative and positive). I am new here and want
to learn ways to drive traffic, improve my rank etc. My site is only 25%
complete. I do not have any SEO techniques and am very much open to any
sort of constructive criticism. I know I am very much a newbie, but I hope
to make some friends here to help me along my way and to become my mentor.

Thanks,

Mike Gillis

This might sound blunt:

Forget search engines, think visitors.

So bearing that in mind, I popped along for a visit.

It's a bunch of links. A bunch of links genereated by a search feed.
Presumably very much like any number of other such sites supplied by the
same feed.

There's a squillion directory sites, yahoo and dmoz might offer you some
competition.

Are you just making a site for the sake of it? Why should someone use your
site as opposed to google, yahoo, dmoz?

Why not make a site about something that interests you?

You sound like a decent sort, bound to make friends here.

Way down deep in the middle of the congo, www.Search24-7.com and a hippo took
an apricot a guava and a mango. Stuck it with the others and he danced a dainty

Sorry to be blunt but the competition you're up against...having said that the
site is quite aesthetically pleasing but I did not pay much attention to it. It
has no 'identity'.

Make a site about merlot and I would visit. Often.

Do these things even make any money?
I mean, *everyone* I know uses Google for web searching and Yahoo for its
yellow pages, and sometimes news.
IMO, If I was going to make money with some sort of advertising, I would do
it one of two ways - 1) pr0n. Seriously now, these are the only sites that
consistently make money from content. or 2) sell advertising on a niche
content site, such as a very specific type of news (i.e. hockey, finance,
etc.)

I can't see a small site that consists of nothing but links making money.

Ouch. I hate to be a "me too"'er, but - why ? As in - why the site ?
It's Yahoo with different colours; Google with more clicking, MSN without
the "M" "S" or "N", etc.

What you've got there would make more sense if you picked *one* of the
categories and then went nuts with that, rather than trying to be
everything to everyone (your competitors are literally throwing millions of
dollars into their efforts, which I doubt you can match)

Quoth the raven named www.Search24-7.com:

Honestly, I'm beginning to think this is a spam. This is now the
fourth group I've found this /nearly/ identical post.

Hi Charles,

This is just a pet project to keep me occupied and to force myself to learn
new things. I appreciate all comments and I agree with your comments. My
site is only 25% completed so I am learning bit by bit. I am thinking about
learning ASP or PHP to also keep me occupied in my spare time.
