of. In particular the reference to the first house of prayer built
by Abraham and his son Ishmael in Mecca on page 9.
Understanding the relationships between Abraham, Sarah
and Hagar; Ishmael and Issac, are central to explaining
religious practices of today, IMO.
Lack of understanding is probably the single biggest cause
of both local and global disputes. Religious beliefs can often
lead to irrational anger as can be found in the comments
made to http://www.religioustolerance.org/comments.htm

Poor sods. Anyone wants to chop the end of my willy will have to fight
for the privilege. Doing it to unsuspecting kids is shameful - if it's
/that/ brilliant then adults would be queuing up to have it done - which
very few do.

Not, however, as a "religious" requirement.

I didn't say it was. Just pointing out that being Christian doesn't

I think it's more disgusting that men out in moslem cultures hack out their
women's clit.
I'm told that its to make sex un-enjoyable so they don't go sleeping around
but there's probably an aspect of the mutilation and control of another
life. Your wife.

Not all Moslem cultures practise FGM by any means. AFAIK it's
principally African cultures where this happens, and I suspect it was
happening before they converted to Islam and got 'attached' just as
Christianity absorbed pagan festivals.
