- Counting downloads of images...?

Our community website has many photos from a recent gala day, free to
download for personal use.
Is it possible to add code which will check how many times image A, B,
C..... have actually been downloaded?

search will find plenty.

I've tried all sorts of web tool sites and can't find anything that will
recognise when an item has been downloaded as opposed to just accessed,
so still looking!

Stop looking. Sorry, but the request a browser sends to 'access' a URL
is identical to the one that it sends to 'download' a URL. There's no
way to tell the difference.

Hi there,
You could have 2 images.
The one in the gallery with a watermark with a "click here to download" link
below which links to the non-watermarked image. You may not get the no of
actual downloads but you'll find out haow many folk have made the effort.

The 2nd image could be zipped - you can check the number of clicks with the
no of cancelled downloads in the stats.
