Is it worth upgrading from Publisher 2000 to 2003?
Posted by Kieth Sutfin on March 5th, 2006

I have written many websites using pub 2000, and quite honestly, I am sure
that 95% of the free world would think that this is great program ... the
other 5% of web designers are probably not happy with any application and
still prefer Notepad coding!!!??? Yuck! It is a wonderfully easy
application to use, has lots of bells and whistles and only has a few quirky
things, most of which are not worth the effort of learning HTML coding!!! I
don't have time for that! I would love to get and test pub 2006 (ha ha)
but in the meantime, is it worth upgrading to 2003. I think that there are
a few new gizmos in '03 but there are less problems with 2000 or perhaps it
might be easier to use. Any comments? Someone also suggested that I might
enjoy creating a webpage using PowerPoint. More comments??

There is no Pub 2006. The next version will be part of Office 2007. I
haven't heard whether it will be called 2007 or something completely
different. Probably will be called Publisher Vista............... <grumble>

(I have a bit of an issue about how MS tends to name the Office programs
with something similar to the Windows version name. Newbies just can't seem
to understand that they are completely different critters.)

Stay with Pub 2000 for web design!

There are two articles about the changes in Pub 2002 and 2003 here:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/ar...gory/1922.aspx
Be sure to read both articles.

Pub 2007 will come out in late 2006.
