- path for mapping a pdf file after it has been uploaded to website?
- Posted by candacecham on February 8th, 2006
I build my website using Publisher. I have since uploaded it to the web. I
am having issues with my hyperlinks. I have manually uploaded the files, but
from I am having problems. It may be a pathing issue?? Don't know. When I
click on the hyperlink, it takes me to "page cannot be found". Maybe I have
named the file wrong?? I have read
http://www.publishermvps.com/WebDesi...7/Default.aspx
a dozen times, but still cannot find the answer myself. Any suggestions?

Try making your hyperlink read,
/file.pdf where file is the file name and pdf is the file extension.

That was the complete address as long as the file resides in the same
location as the index.html file. If you want the linked file to reside in a
folder then just add the folder name in the address, i.e.,
/folder/file.doc

Check your links very carefully. Often the problem is the use of upper case
letters, spaces etc. If you would like to post the URL and the links as you
wrote them, we would be happy to try to trouble shoot the problem.
