I created my website using Pub 2000. When I upload the site,
the pictures aren't as clear when you look at the web version as they are in
my publisher document. Any idea why?

But it is not making a gif. It is still a jpg. Is it just the version of

Both 2002 and 2003 handle images differently. 2003 actually generates
multiple copies in different formats and resolutions for each image. Both of
these versions also introduce a lot of other changes, and that's usually a
hurdle for the 2000 user.

Jayda, To add to what David said, I looked at your site, and the images
looked fine on my computer. Did you look at the site on different computers?

Also, when you inserted the image, did you scale the image down? In other
words, I have found that if I reduce the dimensions of the image, in a image
editing application, to close to the size of the image box I am going to
use, before I insert it, it seems to 'distort' less. I believe that
Publisher effectively resamples your images to the smaller size when you
Save As A Web Page, and does not do as good of job as your image editing
software would....maybe <grin>.

And FWIW, it seems that most people who have switched to Publisher 2002 or
2003 have regretted it....

I meant to say, they have regretted it, IF they were using Publisher for
websites. The new versions offer advantages for print documents.

No, the images are 100% original size. I scale them down in an image editing
application first. I have looked at the pictures on different computers, as
well as different browsers. I know the pictures aren't terrible...but they
are of lesser quality than the original. Maybe I'm just too picky!

I have also tried inserting the images into a MS Word webpage, and when I
upload that the pictures look as good as the original. I'm not sure why Word
works better than Publisher. I really don't want to use Word to create my
website...I much prefer Publisher. If anyone else has any ideas please let me
know!

uhm, I already stated you need to remove the formatting.

it looks to me that you formatted them with a border. remove that. have zero
formatting on the image.
