How do I get a Publisher web file into Power point in a usable format. Using
the
publisher "Publish to web" as a disk file I find all the tables are unusable
in
Power Point!!

PPT isn't a html editor, why would you be trying to use html files in PPT?
If you are wanting to get content from a Pub page to a PPT page I'd suggest
saving the Pub page as a jpg file and insert that image file in the PPT
page.
