please help me out with some search/index difficulties
Posted by Jerry on March 17th, 2006

Hi,

We are a consulting firm based in Australia, and we just launched our
website 2 months ago. (www.whiteroomassociates.com), As a webmaster, I
have some search and index related question. Somehow I couldn't find
the answer, although I believed these questions may have been discussed
and answered somwhere. I would appreciate if someone could help me out.

1. If we search White Room Associates from WEB, our website doesn't
show up in the google free seearch? But if we search White Room
Associates from Australia, it works. Is it because our domain and IP
address are in Australia?

2. Mr Bodo Mann is the Managing Director of White Room Associates. And
his name and CV is included in the website. It is our understanding
that when we search "Bodo Mann", his name should show up with White
Room Associates' website. However, his name only comes up with the
company that he used to work for. Why is that? Is that because our site
has a PageRank of Zero?! And our website is not linked by others?

3. Usually when the website show up on Google, it will come with two
lines brief introduction? Why there is no word introduction under our
website link in google's Free search?

The answer I can think of is few site have link to our site; Our link
name to each page of the site are the same;

Is there any other reasons?

Really appreciate your help.

Jerry

To begin with, get rid of the redirect.

Your problem is that search engines are not using JavaScript, and your
www.whiteroomassociates.com require JavaScript (big mistake) to get
redirected inside website itself.

If you take peek on google cache to see what "google see"
(http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:...ct=clnk&cd =1)
it ain't seeing much of anything. That's because of silly use of that
JavaScript. Get RID of it, that is root of ALL your sites problems. If
searchbot can't get in site how do you expect site to shop up on anything?

Besides that, get links pointing in your site...

Will that help if we have different links to different pages?

Cheers,

Start with that, then we can check your internal linking structure. We would
have to see what happens after Google successfully spiders the entire web
site cleanly.

Also, create a Google SiteMap
http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login?hl=en you can do it
automatically here http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp ( not
the greatest SiteMap generator but it is really easy to use and works just
fine ) figure out how to get Google to verify it and you should be off to a
good start within a week or two a so.

I suggest you get back to us after that as your web site may still have
serious issues. The crawler issue is the most important one at this time
though. Deal with that and then don't forget to come back here with it.

Hi,

it seems that our website still has the problem of What I describled
earlier after the effort made of our website developer. Below is the
verbatim from our developer:

" The attached war file contains the changes made to correct the google
search difficulty.
The only change made is the removal of frame and script involved in
retaining a constant url in the address bar.
With this fix, the searchbot must be able to crawl our site the next
time it visits.

Though google and other major search engines can index dynamic sites,
they are efficient with static url sites.

To achieve optimization by conversion of dynamic to static url in our
website, .htaccess file can be used.
This configuration is to be done on apache server.
The links below provide the tool to generate the code and other
information required.
http://www.webconfs.com/url-rewriting-tool.php
http://www.usweb.com/online_marketin...s_spider.ht m
"

In addition, I've submitted our sitemap to google twice. The first time
was submitted before the removal of scrip, and Google indicated ERROR.
I resubmitted today and I am waiting for the result.

Are what we've done correct? Shall we do any thing else?

Appreciate your help!!!
