Link Popularity

I get mixed opinions on what makes google search results. Some say links.
Some say content. Some say both.

What is meant by content? If it stand for wordiness, I see a lot online
stores having little writeup. If it is not wordiness, what is it?

Thanks in advance

Both. Different 'flavours' suit different sites though.

Content in my eyes is also analogous to _amount_ of information/pages. This
can otherwise be perceived as the frequency certain words repeat. In line
with my comment above, on-line stores might rely less on search engines
pointing to 'articles'. Buyers need to arrive at preduct pages instead.

Hope it helps,

Roy

It's a combination of both, but Content is King. Why?

Because you don't just want visitors, you want targetted visitors who will
stay, revisit and buy.

No amount of links can achieve that without a site worth visiting.

The targetting is the key point; it is your content that SEs have to work
on; if you excel in some specialized area, that will be reflected in the
serps, and people will come to you.

No amount of links can achieve that without a site worth visiting.

But links are important; SEs spider the web; you need to be 'part of the
web' by having links - More, you need to be 'part of the right part of the
web' - in other words, you need appropriate links, showing that you have
recognition where it matters, in your speciality.

Start with the appropriate categories of quality directories, then go for
specialist directories.

Remember also that good sites get linked to because they are good - Content
is King.
