- Googlebot checks but still no listing
- Posted by gazzanewpy on February 11th, 2006
I have seen the Googlebot several times within my site but still no
listing. I recently changed the layout because my site was purely
flash-based with an imported text file on run. It now has a main HTML
index page taking the user to either the flash site or an HTML copy.
There is content on this new index page and the meta-tags are correct.
I have placed a robots.txt into the root, as well as the sitemap.html
(generated for me and correct). I have used the Submit Sitemap section
in Google and this has stated that my sitemap is ok and that my
robots.txt is also correct. However there is no other data available
and the one error refers to a page that has not been on my site (nor on
any of the pages) for some weeks now.
Please can someone help since I am really running out of ideas. Getting
other sites to link in is difficult and without a ranking is proving
impossible to drive interest. Please, please, pretty please help!

Your site is in Google:
http://64.233.179.104/search?sourcei...wpy.me. uk%2F
But only just - Gooogle does not list sites unless they have links to
them from other sites - I can't find any to yours (there must be at
least one to get listed)-- you just need to get some.

Well, this morning it appeared 3rd from top in Google search, but then
it disappeared again! I think I changed the sitemap by accident and am
trying to rectify this mistake ASAP but I'm getting closer.

And now the caching has failed again! I have been at the top of the
listing, nothing has changed on the site and yet my listing has fallen
and caching declares that nothing is there. Why?

Google is in the process of re-doing their infrastructure and the data
centers are slowly being updated. That's why you are seeing your site
there one minute and gone the next.
The cached info Google was showing for my site was different every time
I checked it yesterday.
All we can do is be patient as Google performs it's house cleaning.
