google worm virus or ???

My virus scanner keeps finding a worm virus in the google desktop
folder. Since no clear way of reorting this is evidcent I will post the
name of the worm so others can scan for it and wait for google to get a
support link that works. Too bad I can't post the picture...

I suggest you try to use an online virus scanner also (if you haven't
already).

By the way, this is a Usenet newsgroup so you can't post pictures in
this group, but you can post pictures in Google Groups. Here's a test
group to experiment with GG:

Try using spysweeper by webroot. It got rid of about blank which
is one of the worst there.
Norton Antivirus should remove all internet worms.
You could of course manually delete all files and all associated files,
I suppose. Mc Fee is supposed to be pretty good too.
You can also use Microsoft antispyware to set your browsers to
default settings. Those hacks...

A Virus Scanner does indeed find it. Every time. And deletes it. What I
am suggesting is for the benefit of those who may not have an up to
date scanner, or for Google itself. My system is fine. It just
re-occurs leading me to think that if this directory stores Google
related files then perhaps the OWNER of those files should check this
out. If the OWNER of the directory is GOOGLE DESKTOP installation or
recurring updates of their files threy should try to respond. Perhaps
no one from Google really ever actually responds to any of these posts.
Since there is no direct Google link to support or contact this seemed
like a likely place to post.

Scanning hes.evt today with AV pgms do not indicate anything. Spyware
pgms like spysweeper, A squared (A2), MS Windows Defender, Spybot S&D
and Adaware do not find anything either. The owner of the directory
seems to be Google. They may have caught this already.

The word usenet is not in the address so it was not apparent that this
is a text-only driven site.

Thanks for your responses. Yes I am sure a picture attachment area
would help, or it might just create additional files for the LARGE
google system.

Either way.. thanks for your responses.

If the same problem appears again and again then you still might have a
virus on your computer. Try to scan your computer in Windows safe mode.
If that doesn't help, ask for help in a security forum.
