Google Local Cities
Posted by tonyblum@gmail.com on March 3rd, 2006

When you just look at a map of the US zoomed a little, Google will
display certain cities.

At a zoom level I found, in Missouri Google shows St. Louis, Kansas
City, Lee's Summit, Springfield, and Wildwood.

I am very confused by this. I'm not sure how it decides what city's to
display, but this wasn't a very good selection.

How did Wildwood get in there? It is not even one of the top ten
largest cities in the state. It has a population of 32,000 people. It's
really a far off suburb of St. Louis (though probably too far away to
be considered part of the Metropolitan area).

Google doesn't even list Jeffereson City, the Capital of the state.

I thought I would just comment on this.
