Google doesn't believe title tag?
Posted by tolmasky@gmail.com on March 28th, 2006

Ok so this has been bugging me for a while about some of the websites I
make. For some reason, when they show up on Google, it chooses to
display the first h1 or h2 as the title instead of what's actually in
the title tags. I really don't understand why. This has just recently
happened with the redesign of my personal page: http://www.tolmasky.com
.. If you search on google for "tolmasky" it's the first hit. Yet the
title shows up as "Archives" for some reason, even though this is just
some h2 buirried in the source. Any help to remedy this is greatly
appreciated.

The most obvious aspect of your <title> tag is the fact that it has two
newline (ie. return or linefeed) characters in the HTML file. That may
be valid for the HTML, and browsers seem to handle it in stride, but it
certainly looks like Google sees it as an error. Change it to:

<title>Free-Running Sleep</title>

all on one line and I'm sure Google will pick it up. Good luck!
